Chapman * Publisher: McGraw Hill Higher Education * Number Of Pages: 746 * Publication Date: 2004-05-01 * ISBN / ASIN: 0071151559 Review: Sets an Excellent Standard I have three standard textbooks on electric machines, and the best one by far is Stephen Chapman's Electric Machinery Fundamentals (fourth edition). Chapman has the rare ability to strike a golden balance between theory and practice, and between rigour and informality, such that the theoretical actually illuminates the practical. His discussion on power transformers is the best I have seen anywhere, and he maintains that same high quality throughout the book. Along the way, he has even managed to correct a subtle misconception that I had held for several years concerning Lenz's law. The print quality is superb and the diagrams are sharp and clear. I would like to answer a comment that another reviewer had against this book, namely, that this book uses log or semilog scales. I think we should be grateful that Mr. Chapman had the good judgment to use log or semilog scales, or else we are going to have a book that is hundreds of miles long and wide! Often categorized as either 'techniques' or 'applications' this book addresses the various applications that may be needed with reference to the practical techniques that are available for the instrumentation or measurement of a specific physical quantity or quality. This makes it of direct interest to anyone working in the process, control and instrumentation fields where these measurements are essential. The latest edition of the Instrumentation Reference Book is a comprehensive and authoritative collection of technical information, which is of direct practical value to instrumentation and control engineers as well as all instrument technicians and users. It is also an indispensable addition to any academic library for the benefit of engineering and science students. Written by a collection of specialist contributors under the guidance of Walt Boyes, the third edition of this book (developed from the work originally published for more than 40 years as Jones Instrument Technology) has been updated to include chapters on the fieldbus standards, reliability, EMC, 'virtual instrumentation', fibre optics, smart and intelligent transmitters, analyzers, level and flow meters, and many more. * Comprehensive and authoritative collection of technical information * Written by a collection of specialist contributors * Updated to include chapters on the fieldbus standards, reliability, EMC, 'virtual instrumentation', fibre optics, smart and intelligent transmitters, analyzers, level and flow meters, and many more Size: 27.51 MB ~~~ Newnes Interfacing Companion Computers, Transducers, Instrumentation and Signal Processing Author: Tony Fischer-Cripps Publisher: Newnes Hardcover: 320 pages Preface The overall aim of this book is to present transducer devices, computer interfacing and instrumentation electronics in a succinct and memorable fashion. The book combines physics, computer science and electrical engineering in a science/engineering context. Starting from the transfer of physical phenomena to electrical signals, the book presents a comprehensive treatment of computer interfacing and finishes with signal conditioning, data analysis and digital filtering. The book covers a wide scope but contains sufficient detail to allow a practical application of the theory. Detailed explanations are given, even of the most difficult of concepts. The review problems offer a level of complexity which provides sufficient challenge to impart a sense of achievement upon their completion. The accompanying project work reinforces the theoretical work while allowing the reader to gain the satisfaction and experience of actually constructing a working interfacing circuit that can be used on any personal computer with a serial port. The book will be useful for students who are new to the subject, and will serve as a handy reference for experienced engineers who wish to refresh their knowledge of a particular topic ~~~ Power System Protection: Volume 1--Principles and Components (Power System Protection) * Publisher: Institution of Electrical Engineers * Number Of Pages: 554 * Publication Date: 1995-12 * ISBN / ASIN: 0852968345 ~~~ Power System Harmonics By Jos Arrillaga, Neville R.
