Thermoelectric generators are being used in increasing numbers to provide electrical power in medical, military, and deep space applications where combinations of their desirable properties outweigh their relatively high cost and low generating efficiency. In recent years there also has been an increase in the requirement for thermoelectric coolers (Peltier devices) for use in infrared detectors and in optical communications. Information on thermoelectrics is not readily available as it is widely scattered throughout the literature. The Handbook centralizes this information in a convenient format under a single cover. Sixty of the world's foremost authorities on thermoelectrics have contributed to this Handbook. It is comprised of fifty-five chapters, a number of which contain previously unpublished material. The *******s are arranged in eight sections: general principles and theoretical considerations, material preparation, measurement of thermoelectric properties, thermoelectric materials, thermoelectric generation, generator applications, thermoelectric refrigeration, and applications of thermoelectric cooling. The CRC Handbook of Thermoelectrics has a broad-based scope. It will interest researchers, technologists, and manufacturers, as well as students and the well-informed, non-specialist reader Format: Per chapter PDFs ~~~ Handbook of Silicon Semiconductor Metrology By * Publisher: CRC * Number Of Pages: 896 * Publication Date: 2001-06-29 * ISBN / ASIN: 0824705068 Book Description: Containing more than 300 equations and nearly 500 drawings, photographs, and micrographs, this reference surveys key areas such as optical measurements and in-line calibration methods. Sheng, Ronald P. Colino, * Publisher: CRC * Number Of Pages: 296 * Publication Date: 2004-06-26 * ISBN / ASIN: 084932260X Book Description: Designing and building power semiconductor modules requires a broad, interdisciplinary base of knowledge and experience, ranging from semiconductor materials and technologies, thermal management, and soldering to environmental constraints, inspection techniques, and statistical process control. This diversity poses a significant challenge to engineers, and a book that brings together the essential elements of these technologies is long overdue. Power Electronic Modules: Design and Manufacture fills that void. It covers not only the basic technologies, but also the latest advances in these areas. Organized into three main sections, coverage begins with discussions on the materials used and their key properties, including a comparison of those properties with the requirements of high-performance, cost-effective power modules and the pros and cons of selected materials. The focus then shifts to manufacturing processes and quality control. The authors outline each key manufacturing operation and its corresponding inspection techniques and include two detailed manufacturing flow charts, one for the standard approach and one for a new all-solder approach. The final section of the book examines actual samples based on four different designs. The authors compare these samples in terms of thermal-electrical performance, thermal- mechanical performance, physical characteristics, and cost. The growing importance of power modules has led to numerous but scattered journal and conference articles. Clearly written, authoritative, and well organized, this is a practical, up-to-date reference that forms a unique, one-stop handbook for their design and manufacture Format: Per Chapter PDFs (Bookmarked & Linked) ~~~ Magnetism: Materials and Applications By * Publisher: Springer * Number Of Pages: 517 * Publication Date: 2004-10-04 * ISBN / ASIN: 0387230009 Book Description: Magnetic materials are all around us, and understanding their properties underlies much of today's engineering efforts. It is basically just a library of different kinds of alarm circuits complete with theory of operation and parts list for each circuit. The reader should therefore already be familiar with the basic techniques of designing circuits that include discrete electronic parts such as LED's and BJT's. It is a useful book of ideas if you are looking for a complete description of an alarm circuit that you can use for a larger circuit you are building. I cannot vouch for the overall accuracy of the book's circuits, but I have built about five of the circuits included in this book over the last two years, and they all worked OK without modification. The book is unique in that it shows you detailed circuit diagrams and parts lists for detecting humidity, earth movement, twilight, smoke, and fluids. It is relatively short at under 300 pages, but at its low price I consider it a bargain if you think you will ever be faced with designing any kind of alarm circuit. If you want to get more into the theory of the sensors that are showcased here, might I recommend Jacob Fraden's "Handbook of Modern Sensors", since it is heavy on theory and lighter on circuitry, making it the perfect companion for this book ~~~ Analog Circuit Design: RF Circuits: Wide band, Front-Ends, DAC's, Design Methodology and Verification for RF and Mixed-Signal Systems, Low Power and Low Voltage By * Publisher: Springer * Number Of Pages: 414 * Publication Date: 2006-03-08 * ISBN / ASIN: 1402038844 Book Description: Analog Circuit Design contains the contribution of 18 tutorials of the 14th workshop on Advances in Analog Circuit Design. This book is number 14 in this successful series of Analog Circuit Design, providing valuable information and excellent overviews of analog circuit design, CAD and RF systems. Analog Circuit Design is an essential reference source for analog circuit designers and researchers wishing to keep abreast with the latest development in the field. The tutorial coverage also makes it suitable for use in an advanced design course ~~~ Classical Electrodynamics (The Advanced Book Program) By Julian Schwinger, Kimball A. Milton, Lester L., Jr. DeRaad, Wu-yang Tsai, * Publisher: Westview Press * Number Of Pages: 596 * Publication Date: 1998-09-01 * ISBN / ASIN: 0738200565 Book Description: Classical Electrodynamics captures Schwinger's inimitable lecturing style, in which everything flows inexorably from what has gone before. Novel elements of the approach include the immediate inference of Maxwell's equations from Coulomb's law and (Galilean) relativity, the use of action and stationary principles, the central role of Green's functions both in statics and dynamics, and, throughout, the integration of mathematics and physics. Thus, physical problems in electrostatics are used to develop the properties of Bessel functions and spherical harmonics. The latter portion of the book is devoted to radiation, with rather complete treatments of synchrotron radiation and diffraction, and the formulation of the mode decomposition for waveguides and scattering. Consequently, the book provides the student with a thorough grounding in electrodynamics in particular, and in classical field theory in general, subjects with enormous practical applications, and which are essential prerequisites for the study of quantum field theory. An essential resource for both physicists and their students, the book includes a "Reader's Guide," which describes the major themes in each chapter, suggests a possible path through the book, and identifies topics for inclusion in, and exclusion from, a given course, depending on the instructor's preference. Carefully constructed problems complement the material of the text, and introduce new topics. The book should be of great value to all physicists, from first-year graduate students to senior researchers, and to all those interested in electrodynamics, field theory, and mathematical physics. The text for the graduate classical electrodynamics course was left unfinished upon Julian Schwinger's death in 1994, but was completed by his coauthors, who have brilliantly recreated the excitement of Schwinger's novel approach ~~~ IC Layout Basics : A Practical Guide By Christopher Saint, Judy Saint, * Publisher: McGraw-Hill Professional * Number Of Pages: 350 * Publication Date: 2001-11-05 * ISBN / ASIN: 0071386254 Book Description: MASTER IC LAYOUT WITHOUT AN ENGINEERING BACKGROUND!
